Lopez Plans Return to LPGA Tour

Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez plans a comeback on the LPGA Tour, she told her local newspaper, the Nashville Tennessean.

Citing her daughter Torri’s graduation from high school next year, Lopez said she’s mapping out an 18-month strategy to return to competition, which she believes will help the struggling LPGA Tour.

An interview with GolfWorld magazine can be found here.

Lopez announced a planned comeback last year, but later dropped the effort to concentrate on home life.

Lobo Golfers Turn Pro

Lobo seniors Steve Saunders and Parker Pemberton will turn pro at the Socorro Open later this week. Miguel Griego, another Lobo alumnus, was expected to defend his Soccoro title when the event kicks off  Friday.

Two other Lobo seniors, Brandon Putnam and Guillermo Chavez, were expected to retain their amateur status.

Putnam was granted entry into the Pacific Coast Amateur team by virtue of his Sun Country Amateur Golf Association Match Play victory last week. Putnam was also expected to play in the SCAGA New Mexico-West Texas Amateur Championship July 17-19 at Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club.
