SCAGA Announces Tournament Schedule for 2010

Yogi Berra Talks About Golf, Being Yogi, Mickey Mantle & More

Yogi Berra, 85, an ambassador for the PGA Tour’s 51st Bob Hope Classic Jan. 18-24, in La Quinta Calif., took reporters’ questions about – what else – being Yogi Berra, the American syntactic legend and White-and-Strunk puzzle within an enigma.

YogiMugSmallThe Yankee Hall of Famer, who has been involved with the Hope for 15 years, was on the phone for a conference call from his home in New Jersey and was asked about his penchant for Yogi-isms  such as “It’s deja vu all over again.”

Because so many of Berra’s quotes have entered the lexicon of golf – “90 percent of putts that are short don’t go in” – we had to excerpt the transcript of the call with this legend, the likes of whom may never again walk this earth. So, even though Yogi may never have played golf in New Mexico, here’s what he’s saying…

Q. Yogi, all those crazy quotes attributed to you over the years, how many of those did you actually say and how many of those were made up?
