SCG Exclusive: Alto Lakes to Vote on Taking Over The Outlaw Club

Alto Lakes Golf & Country Club and The Outlaw Club in Ruidoso have signed a deal to allow The Outlaw Club to reopen this season as a private course for Alto Lakes members — provided Alto Lakes’ membership approves.

Alto Lakes’ members will be asked to vote by mail on the lease-purchase deal in the next several weeks. The arrangement could result in Alto Lakes owning the golf course free and clear within five years in return for footing its operational bills in the interim. [Read more →]

SCG Wins National Photo Award

Sun Country Golf’s editor, Dan Vukelich, won an “Outstanding Achiever” award from the International Network of Golf for his photo, “Missing Right,” which appeared in the July-August 2009 issue of the magazine.

The photo depicted the first tee of the PGA of America’s Professional National Championship at Twin Warriors Golf Club last July. It finished second to “Bagpiper at Spanish Bay,” a photo by Joann Dost, which appeared in Fairways + Greens magazine.

Jimenez Inks Ad Sales Deal with SCG

Phil Jimenez, a veteran ad sales executive, has signed on as Sun Country Golf’s advertising sales representative.

“We’re excited about our new relationship with Phil, who brings a depth of sales experience to the magazine that can help it grow,” said Ken Adams, Sun Country Golf’s co-publisher and business manager.

Jimenez has worked with Prime Time Publishing, American General Media and Citadel Broadcasting in Albuquerque, and at broadcast outlets and publications in Idaho, South Carolina, North Carolina and Florida.
