2017 U.S. Open Goes to Erin Hills

The USGA has also announced its intention to award the 2018 U.S. Amateur and 2019 U.S. Open The United States Golf Association has named Erin Hills, a daily-fee public golf course about 35 miles northwest of Milwaukee in the town of Erin, Wis., as the site of the 2017 U.S. Open.Championships to Pebble Beach (Calif.) Golf Links.

Lobo Women Golfers Host Clinic

The University of New Mexico Lobo Women’s Golf Team will host the annual Branch Law Firm Lobo Golf Clinic Saturday, March 6, 9 a.m. to noon, at the UNM Championship Course.

The clinic is free and open to all levels of female players. It will be taught by UNM Head Coach and LPGA/PGA professional Jill Trujillo, Lobo assistant coach Becky DoverĀ and the New Mexico women’s golf team.

Registration is simple. Just show up at the course. Clubs will be provided to those who do not have them. The clinic will be moved indoors in the case of inclement weather. Call (505) 277-4527 for more information.

UNM Remodeling Snack Bar

The UNM Championship Golf Course will remodel its snack bar space, with a projected completion date of March 1.

The movable partitions in the main room will be removed and permanent walls will go up to create a training room for tournaments and small meeting spaces, said George Trujeque, director of golf.

“We plan to dress it up and put in new kitchen appliances to improve the food offerings,” he said. The project follows remodeling of the pavilion, the golf course’s special-events building to the north.

Santa Ana Players Club Announces 2010 Tournament Schedule

The Players Club at Santa Ana announced its 2010 tournament schedule, which includes 20 events on weekends and on Wednesdays, for retired players or players with flexibility.
