Journal MIA on Lobos’ NCAA Finish
It is perplexing that a newspaper of the high caliber of the Albuquerque Journal completely missed the final results of the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Golf National Championships.
The final round was Friday. The Lobos’ eventual finish was posted online by 4 p.m. local time Friday, while the top three teams headed into the final three holes. Complete results were available by 5 p.m. local, but Saturday’s Journal sports section had no mention of the results — not a single word.
Arizona Sate University won the title, by the way, followed by UCLA eight shots back and Southern California one stroke further back. The lobos finished 60 strokes behind ASU.
The highest-finishing Lobo, junior Britney Choy, ended the four-day event in a tie for 32nd place among individual players. Albuquerque native Katie Kempter, playing for the University of Denver, finished 39th individually.
