Lady Lobos Head to UCLA

The 21st-ranked University of New Mexico Lobo Women’s Golf Team heads to the Bruin Wave Invitational this week.

The 54-hole tournament will be played Monday through Wednesday at the Robinson Ranch Golf Club (par 72, 6,282 yards) in Santa Clarita, Calif.

UCLA and Pepperdine are the co-hosts. The 18-team field features 11 schools ranked in the top-50 of the Feb. 24 Golfstat rankings.

No. 21 UNM joins No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 Arizona State, No. 6 USC, No. 8 Arizona, No. 9 Pepperdine, No. 13 Stanford, No. 33 Oregon, No. 34 Washington, No. 42 UNLV and No. 4 San Francisco, plus San Diego State, Long Beach State, BYU, Cal State Northridge, Oregon State, Washington State and New Mexico State.

Head coach Jill Trujillo is fielding Jodi Ewart, Rebecca Hellbom, Britney Choy, Bethany Buchner and Sarah Salvo.

The Lobos had a successful showing in the team’s first competition of the 2010 spring season, finishing sixth in a 16-team field at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational Feb. 22-23.
