Las Cruces Junior Golf Wins Grant from Daniels Fund

The Las Cruces Junior Golf Association has received a $5,000 Daniels Fund grant to support its junior golf programs.

The Las Cruces Junior Golf Association’s mission is to provide affordable and accessible golf programs to boys and girls of all ages and skill levels in the greater Las Cruces area. The Association runs three primary programs: instruction, competitions and playing access.
“The grant will enable us to grow our instruction program in 2010 and offer scholarships to those that may not otherwise be able to afford the annual participation fee,” said Douglas Logan, executive director of Las Cruces Junior Golf.

Bill Daniels, a pioneer in cable television, Established the Daniels Fund to provide grants and scholarships in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.  Click here to visit the Daniels Fund website.

PGA Section Holds Championship for Kids 7-12

The Sun Country Section PGA will hold a championship for the youngest members of its Junior Tour July 28-29 at UNM North Golf Course.

There will be boys’ and girls’ divisions in the 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12-year-old age groups. Competitors will play nine holes each day of competition, with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. both days. Competitors must be members of the section’s Junior Tour, a summer-long series of competitions for juniors grouped by age. For more information, call (505) 867-4690.
