Madigan, Sanchez Named SCAGA Players of the Year

The Sun Country Amateur Golf Association named Tim Madigan and Lee Sanchez its 2009 players of the year.

Sanchez of Santa Fe completed his first season as a senior player. He won the New Mexico-West Texas Senior Amateur Championship at Sonoma Ranch Golf Club and was on the winning team at the SCAGA Senior Four Ball Championship at Taos Country Club.

Madigan of Rio Rancho won Player of the Year in the Championship Division. He performed well in every Sun Country event in 2009 and qualified for both the U.S. Public Links and the U.S. Amateur.

Madigan was in a close race with Nick Geyer of Albuquerque, but Madigan’s win in August at the Sun Country Player’s Championship at Isleta Eagle Golf Course put him over the top.
